Knicks Edge Cavs 109-93 to Move Within Two Wins of NBA Finals

The New York Knicks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-93, positioning themselves just two wins a…
Josh Hart recorded a playoff‑career‑high 26 points and seven assists as the New York Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 109‑93, moving the series to a pivotal Game 3 and putting the Knicks within two wins of the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. The Knicks Secure a Dominant 109-93 Victory Over Cleveland The win featured an 18‑0 run in the third quarter that stretched the lead to 71‑53. Coach Mike Brown praised Hart’s shooting, noting his five‑for‑eleven performance from beyond the arc. The Knicks’ bench contributed crucial minutes as the crowd chanted “Knicks in four!” throughout the final minute. Statistical Highlights: Scoring, Rebounds, and Historic Streaks Josh Hart: 26 points (5/11 3‑pt), 7 assists Jalen Brunson: 19 points, 14 assists Karl‑Anthony Towns: 18 points, 13 rebounds Mikal Bridges: 19 points Cavaliers: Donovan Mitchell 26 points, James Harden 18 points Cavaliers missed 10 free throws (68.8% FT) Knicks now on a nine‑game postseason winning streak, the longest since the Boston Celtics’ ten‑game run en route to the 2024 championship Implications for the Eastern Conference Finals Landscape The victory solidifies the Knicks’ control of the series, giving them a 2‑0 lead and forcing the Cavaliers to win two straight to stay alive. The dominant third‑quarter run demonstrates the Knicks’ ability to dictate tempo and exploit defensive lapses, while Cleveland’s free‑throw woes highlight a potential vulnerability in close games. Looking Ahead: What Game 3 Could Hold for Both Teams Game 3 shifts to Cleveland, where the Cavs must address shooting consistency and improve free‑throw execution. The Knicks will aim to sustain their defensive intensity and capitalize on the momentum generated by Hart’s hot shooting night. If the Knicks maintain their current pace, a Finals berth appears increasingly likely; a resilient Cavs effort could at least extend the series and test the Knicks’ depth on the road.

Tui Pulls Sponsorship from Married at First Sight Amid Rape Allegations

Travel operator Tui has terminated its sponsorship of the UK and Australian versions of Married at …
Executive Summary: Tui Withdraws Sponsorship Following Panorama RevelationsThe travel giant Tui announced it will no longer sponsor the reality series Married at First Sight on Channel 4 after a BBC Panorama investigation exposed allegations of rape and sexual misconduct involving on‑screen couples. The decision was communicated alongside statements from Channel 4 and regulator Ofcom, underscoring the reputational risk for brands linked to such programming. What Triggered the Sponsorship Termination?Panorama aired a documentary detailing claims by two anonymous women that they were raped by their on‑screen husbands, and a third woman, Shona Manderson, alleging sexual misconduct. All accused men have denied the allegations.Tui UK and Ireland cited the broadcast and subsequent discussions with Channel 4 as the basis for ending the partnership.Financial Implications of Ending the DealWhile the exact value of Tui’s sponsorship was not disclosed, industry analysts estimate that high‑profile reality‑TV sponsorships in the UK can range from £1‑2 million per season. By pulling out, Tui avoids potential negative brand association costs, which could exceed the sponsorship fee if consumer backlash intensifies. Conversely, the loss of exposure may affect short‑term marketing ROI, especially in the competitive travel market.Industry‑Wide Repercussions for Reality‑TV PartnershipsThe incident adds pressure on broadcasters and advertisers to scrutinise the ethical standards of reality formats. Ofcom chief executive Melanie Dawes signalled willingness to tighten guidance on participant welfare, which could lead to stricter compliance requirements and higher production costs. Brands may increasingly demand contractual safeguards, such as audit clauses and rapid response protocols, before committing to similar shows.Looking Ahead: How Brands May Navigate Controversial ContentExperts predict a shift toward more cautious sponsorship strategies, with companies favoring content that aligns closely with their corporate values. Future partnerships are likely to include explicit clauses for immediate termination in the event of serious allegations, and greater involvement in content oversight. For broadcasters, the challenge will be balancing audience demand for sensational reality TV with heightened regulatory scrutiny and sponsor expectations.

From a stylish Cold‑War thriller on Sky Atlantic to the nation’s biggest curry restaurant on Channel 4, the line‑up promises both intrigue and comfort food for viewers.‘Ponies’: A Cold‑War Thriller Starring Emilia ClarkeEmilia Clarke headlines ‘Ponies’, a star‑filled, stylish and surprisingly fun Cold‑War drama airing at 9 pm on Sky Atlantic. Clarke plays Bea, a highly educated Russian‑speaking secretary who teams up with street‑smart Twila (Haley Lu Richardson). Together they investigate the mysterious deaths of their husbands in Moscow, operating as “persons of no interest”. The cast also includes Adrian Lester and Harriet Walter.Scheduling Slots and Audience Reach Estimates9 pm – Sky Atlantic: ‘Ponies’ (Cold‑War thriller)8 pm – Channel 4: “World’s Biggest Curry Restaurant” – a behind‑the‑scenes look at the Royal Nawaab in Stockport.9 pm – BBC Two: “Hidden Treasures of the National Trust” – cultural‑heritage documentary narrated by Toby Jones.10 pm – BBC Three: “Smoggie Queens” – comedy sketch series.10:05 pm – Sky Atlantic: “Hacks” – penultimate episode of the AI‑satire comedy.11:40 pm – BBC One: “St Denis Medical” – double‑bill US mockumentary. While exact viewership figures are not yet released, prime‑time slots on Sky Atlantic and Channel 4 typically attract 1–2 million live viewers, with additional streaming audiences on platform‑specific apps. Why Cold‑War Drama Is Resurfacing on UK TVThe renewed interest in Cold‑War narratives aligns with a broader cultural fascination for geopolitical tension and espionage, spurred by recent successful series such as *The Americans* and *Killing Eve*. By pairing a high‑profile star like Clarke with a genre that blends thriller, period intrigue and dark humor, broadcasters aim to capture both legacy audiences and younger viewers seeking fresh takes on historic settings. What This Means for Next Season’s Programming ChoicesGiven the strategic placement of *Ponies* alongside eclectic factual and comedy offerings, networks appear to be betting on a diversified schedule that balances prestige drama with accessible reality‑TV formats. If *Ponies* secures strong live and on‑demand numbers, we can expect more star‑driven, genre‑hybrid projects to fill prime‑time slots in the coming months, potentially nudging streaming services to compete with similar high‑budget, historically‑rooted series.

Ronaldo scores twice to seal Saudi Pro League title with Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Al-Nassr clinched the Saudi Pro League title with a 4-1 win over …
The Star's Impactful Performance Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Al-Nassr clinched the Saudi Pro League title with a 4-1 win over Damac, ending his long wait for domestic silverware. Ronaldo's Road to Glory A trademark free-kick and a close-range finish, both in the final half-hour of Thursday’s game, sealed the win Al-Nassr needed on the last night of the season, with Al Hilal finishing just two points behind. Career Milestones and Achievements Ronaldo, 41, who was without a major club trophy since winning Serie A with Juventus in 2020, arrived in the oil-rich desert kingdom to great acclaim in 2023. He adds the Saudi championship to his English, Spanish and Italian titles and five Champions League medals. Ronaldo opened the door to a series of big-money Saudi signings when he joined Al-Nassr in January 2023, following an unhappy second spell at Manchester United. The Future of Saudi Football Next up for the all-time leading men’s international goalscorer, with 143 goals, is a sixth crack at the World Cup after he was named in Portugal’s squad this week. League and Player Statistics Ronaldo was the Pro League’s top scorer in his first two seasons, with his career tally now at 973 – tantalisingly close to the 1,000-goals milestone. Challenges and Controversies His Saudi stint has not always been smooth. In 2024, he was left in floods of tears when Al-Nassr lost the King’s Cup final to Al Hilal on penalties, denying him his first Saudi title. This season, he disappeared from Al-Nassr’s lineup for three games in an apparent protest at Benzema’s transfer to rival team Al Hilal.

Scenes from a Friendship review – a platonic One Day that will melt your heart

Scenes from a Friendship, a play by Jane Upton, explores the platonic bond between two theatre-obse…
The Play's Concept Imagine if One Day was set in Long Eaton. Now, take its sweeping, time-spanning love story, but make it platonic, and about two theatre-obsessed best mates. That’s the foundation for Jane Upton’s luminous, heart-exploding play, which catches Jess and Billy in a series of snapshots across their friendship. The Story Unfolds Beginning in the early 90s, during their school days, and then moving through their 20s, 30s and into their mid-40s, the play threads together teenage crushes, career decisions, breakups, marriages, births and children. Jess (Katie Redford) is an oversharer while Billy (Benedict Salter) has secrets. Their early years together pass through play rehearsals, parties, personal revelations and betrayals, but even in their lowest moments, the two are always pulled back to each other’s side. The Evolution of Friendship As their lives move in different directions, with Billy heading to London for drama school and later building a career as a high-flying agent, and Jess staying at home in a “suburban bubble” before eventually tiptoeing her way back into the creative scene as a playwright, they turn their noses up at the other’s choices. Still, in times of turmoil, they can’t help but pick up the phone or race across the country just to be there for their old friend. Their dialogue accurately captures people who know each other’s lives inside out. The Production Directed by Hannah Stone, the production shows friendship as something defining. Redford and Salter make their characters people we want to stay with across the decades. In fact, time here slips through our fingers. One moment they’re 15 in 1995, and Jess is getting advice from More! magazine; the next it is 2022, and a 42-year-old Billy is considering surrogacy for his next child. Abby Clarke’s design evokes nostalgia, with the back wall composed of white, Polaroid-inspired squares that shift from photographic outlines to mirrors. The Verdict With so much life to fit into 95 minutes, there are inevitable gaps in Billy and Jess’s stories. We could learn more about the structure of their families and the other relationships in their lives. But really, this is a play about the complicated, beautiful bond between two people. It leaves you desperate for more days with them. Where to Watch At Nottingham Playhouse until 12 June
