Denby, a 217-year-old pottery firm based in Derbyshire, has appointed administrators, putting almost 600 jobs at risk of loss. Stoke's Wedgwood pottery has also announced job cuts. A string of consumer goods companies have fallen into administration this year due to lacklustre consumer spending and rising costs.
